Review - Twisted Sista range

Twisted Sista is a London based range which used to target its products primarily at afro Caribbean hair types. It was launched a few years ago...then disappeared. Its now been recently relaunched by Urban Therapy, re-developed ( Now containing Argan Oil) and re branded to now appeal to a wider market of hair types.

Its targeted for mainly curly hair though some of the products will be suited for straight hair as well. All products are Sulphate and Paraben free and aim to calm, de frizz, cleanse and add some much needed moisture to lack lustre dry or over processed/insanely curly hair.

The are several products in the range including shampoo and conditioner, serum, blow dry cream, curl activator and various other fixers and finishers.

My Review is focused on 5 of them pictured below which are:

Twisted Sista haircare range

From left to right:
Leave in Conditioner ( Detangler)
Straightening Blow Dry Cream
Different Strokes Hair Serum
Straightening Thermal Protector
Hot Curls Perfector

Now as there's a few products i haven't yet trialed all of them but the first two are below.

Twisted Sista Different Strokes hair serum

The serum has a combination of both Argan Oil and Green tea and is free from Sulphates, parabens, Phyhalates and mineral oils. The serum is said to lock in moisture, eliminate frizz and add shine and also contain UV filters to protect hair from the sun...exactly what i need....but does it work?

The serum is fairly light and has a sweet but not over powering fragrance. This serum can be applied to both damp hair and dry. My hair type is basically very thick, wavy and coloured so dry hair can always be an issue. I first tried the serum on my hair whilst damp.....then blow dried/straightened as normal......Result: well honestly i didn't really see a huge transformation in the feel and conditioner of my hair...other serums iv tried have produced much better results to be honest. However i must add...all is not lost as it does redeem itself when applied on dry hair.....I found it worked really well, smoothed and de frizzed it and left it looking fairly shiny...i also like the fact its quite a light weight serum so doesn't weigh your locks down like some can.

The serum retails for £4.99 and is available from most major Tesco stores....but also if you hop over to Superdrug you can currently get this for a bargain busting £0.99p!!

Twisted Sista Straightening blow dry cream

The blow dry cream contains a combination of Argan Oil and Lychee and has quite a strong fruity fragrance (sure im getting a hint of banana in there). The cream is designed to straighten and defrizz even the curlyest of hair. You simply add a small amount into your hands then run through your hair from root to tips......you then just blow dry as normal.

Results: actually not bad, the cream left my hair looking alot straighter than normal and it did help tame the 'blow dry frizz factor' Didnt find it made my hair hugely shiny but it was straight which was the main thing.

The Blow Dry Cream again is available from Tesco and normally retails for £4.99 but yes good old Superdrug has it for just £0.99p

So there you go...thats my first 2 done, the others will be up shortly. Overall opinion so far is its not bad...havent been blown away as yet though. For me personally im not sure this is a brand i would normally choose off the shelf mainly due to its image and branding....ie targeting curly hair..and because of that i wouldnt of even bothered looking at the products to notice that they are suitable for us wavy/straight types as well.

Ill leave my overall option till iv tryed the other products. In the meantime if you want to check the range out yourself or fancy following them for updates you can follow them via their Twitter or Facebook feeds.
