So back in August i found out i was picked to be a Red Hot World Buffet Tastemaker....which basically means i get to review, sample and attend special events at the Restaurant chain as part of a large network of nationwide bloggers .....exciting stuff!!
I booked my very first #Tastemaker review visit to my local Cardiff Restaurant on Thursday evening. Dragged my very willing hubby along...neither of us had been here before but had heard alot of good things from others so was looking forward to the visit. The Cardiff Restaurant is based slapbang in the centre of the City right next to the St David 2 Shopping Centre. First impressions....all good......the restaurant is huge, looks modern and inviting. On entering and after giving my name it wasn't long before we were seated at our table. We booked for 7pm and the place was already buzzing by then....always a good sign!!.
Soon as we were seated we were then introduced to the lovely manager Atal, who explained the process and took our drinks orders...obviously looking to impress, it was a really nice start to the evening.
Now If you haven't visited a Red Hot World Buffet before......the process is pretty simple, you order your drinks at your table, whilst they are being made just make your way to the buffet, grab a plate and basically help yourself...simple!
So with drinks ordered, off we went to experience the buffet...it was then that we were greeted again by Atal who introduced us to the absolutely lovely head chef Uttam. Uttam then proceeded to give us a personal guided tour of the vast (and i mean vast) selection of foods throughout the buffet route. We are talking Indian, Italian, Chinese, Mexican......oh and a dessert aisle to make anyone weak at the knees!!
Apart from the huge array of already cooked and prepared meals (all looking amazing), each area has its very own chef that will prepare fresh dishes in front of you from the menu, the selection is literally overwhelming!! I must of spent about 10 minutes wandering round aimlessly clutching at my plate...eyes wide open..trying to decide what to have! I Eventually decided on a Chinese dish of spicy Szechuan chicken and rice. Food was cooked really well, tasty and hot. Hubbie enjoyed his so much he went up for seconds (he couldn't resist), i on the other hand was saving myself for the delights of the the heavenly dessert aisle!!......and boy it didn't disappoint, huge desserts, cakes, mini cakes, jellies, chocolate fountain....all vying for my attention, so why have one when you can have several....so i did, with a small selection of minis and a slab of Pear and Chocolate moose.....yummy!!.
Conclusion
The Red Hot World Buffet experience is a combination of good food, quick service, great staff and a fantastic atmosphere. The place was full of huge groups and parties, as well as couples and families dining. My 2 boys would absolutely love this place....so another visit will be on the cards soon. Cardiff have got the mix spot on and you can't fail to enjoy an evening here.
Huge thank you to Manager Atal, Head Chef Uttam and waitress Liz who made our visit that little bit more special. All the staff we encountered on the night were lovely......so Cardiff, big gold star to you!!
