Review: Stargazer Makeup

Stargazer Face effects

Stargazer was started way back in the late seventies in a little market stall in Kings Road London. At that time Kings Road was syn-ominous with Punk fashion and it was this trend that had a huge influence on them and helped kick start ideas for their ranges.

When hitting the eighties they started to expand into department stores and also started producing alot of the products in house  They produce hair dyes, make up, nail polishs, wigs and make up tools. Stargazer is one of those brands i was aware of but had never tried so when they contacted me the other day they kindly sent across a few samples from their make up range to try out.

The makeup range is pretty extensive and priced at the more budget end of the market.
They sent over (from top left) Champagne Eyeshadow £4, Envy Green Eyeshadow £3, Blusher 5 £3.50. And then bottom photo Eye Dust 29 £4 and Matt Lipstick 205 £3.50.

Colour Swatches

So starting with the Eye Dust - pretty much does what it says on the tin. The colour is a sort of mushroomy brown with a lovely iridescent bronze tinge to it. Colour goes on easy and you can intensify colour by layering. This is a pretty safe colour but if your wanting something a bit more vibrant the Eye Dusts have some pretty intense colours in the range.

Next the lipstick: This is part of their Matt range: Had to admit at first glance the bright red colour did look a bit  too vibrant for my liking but when swatched i found the colour was much more subtle than its garish appearance. Application isn't too bad...doesn't glide on as easily as some lipsticks do probably due to the matt effect of the lipstick however once on i did find that the colour lasted really well, and for such a bargain priced lipstick i was pretty damn impressed.

Onto the eyeshadows: Both of these have got quite a pearlised finish to them....for my own personal taste i found these colours a bit too wishy washy and pale, the champagne version is a barely there brown colour which would be fine for everyday wear but i much prefer a much stronger pigment. I did notice they had alot of other darker shades in the range so i wouldn't right these off just yet. The green envy was a bit better but again very pale....these would be great for someone that prefers just a hint of colour on their eyes.

Finally the blusher: The colour is quite a peachy shade with an iridescent sheen to it. Application is very easy and it does blend into the skin really well leaving you with a rather nice subtle blush. The iridescence in the colour is great for highlighting your cheekbones...and at £3.50 ..an absolute steel!!.

Conclusion
All in all the Stargazer range isn't too bad...the eyeshadows didn't fully win me over however i just think that's down to personal colour choice. They do however have a varied colour range for all their products and the prices are just fab. The staying power of the lipstick was particularly impressive and i can definitely see me buying another!!

The full range is available directly from the Stargazer site and other local stockists.
